Event Space

Hello

My burning man camp is looking to have a FUN~Draising Event in SF someplace in Late June/Early July

Here are the needs of the event.

-Space to dance.
-A seperate space for a silent auction (could be a lobby)
-Ideally space for various "service stations" for guest around the dance floor or in another space next to the dance floor.
-Bonus if it has a stage or an outdoor patio style area.
-Any form of panache or style beyond a plain room
-Affordable is extra sweet. OR willing to work with burners for a great cause (ie the huge party on the playa we are fundraising for)

If you are the manager of such a space please feel encouraged to contact me directly.

While this is a burning man function and while we will have some mildly adult themes and activities, we tend to be a slightly tamer bunch than many other camps. We are also a really old camp that has been together a long time and we are a very responsible group when it comes to organizing and set up and clean up. I myself was a professional venue manager for special events for 8 years and know all about how to leave a venue exactly like I find it.

Any suggestions you might have would be helpful. This event is to help fund the Critical Tits After Ride Party For Women and Their Guests Only...at burning man 2005.

Soak in hot water, enough to cover two times, for 1/2 hour.

While peas are soaking, cut sweet potatoes into approximately 1/2" x 1/2 " cubes, then toss in a large bowl with 1 t salt and 1 t pepper.

Add 1 T olive oil after the sweet potatoes have been tossed with the s+p, and toss again.

Pour the sweet poatatoes out onto a heavy baking pan, making sure that there is a single layer of potatoes; if they are piled on top of each other, they will take longer to cook and also will not cook evenly. Use two pans if necessary.

Roast for 30- 40 minutes, unitl the outsides are crispy and the insides soft. Don't stir them too much or they will not crisp up properly.

Once the potatoes are in the oven, the peas are ready for cooking. Rinse again, put back in pan and fill with enough water to cover them twice. Bring to a boil, then turn down to a moderate simmer.

Check potatoes.

Peel and dice enough ginger for 1 T.

Place ginger in saute pan with 1 T olive oil, then put pan on high heat until ginger starts to bubble in the oil. A very strong, pleasant smell will occur.

When the ginger just starts to brown, add to the simmering peas on the stove.

Check potatoes. Possibly are done by now.

The peas should be softening up and starting to break down at this point. Make sure to maintain the same amount of water that you started with, so there is enough liquid for the peas to float around in and cook properly.

Potatoes are done?

Peas are done? An hour is the longest it should take to cook. They should be completely broken down, the liquid and peas should be a nice consistency, a little thicker than heavy cream. Add more water if necessary.

When the peas are done cooking, with no more solid pieces, turn the soup off and season with salt and pepper. Seasoning is a personal thing, but for a batch this size, I would recommend starting with 2 t salt and 1 t pepper, stirring thoroughly each time you add more salt, to make sure it dissolves, then tasting again.

When the soup is properly seasoned, stir in the sweet potatoes and taste again.

You can finish with coconut milk or heavy cream, (don't boil, just stir in about 1 T per bowl, before serving), to add another dimension of flavor, but it stands well enough on its own.

If anyone hears anything about work in Orlando Florida let me know. If anyone out there needs people in Orlando, let me know. I can't come to San Fransisco but this seems like a good place to network with other people in the area. A couple promo companies to check out that do nationwide stuff are Alloy marketing (amp agency), and GMR marketing. Both reilable and good to work for. Any tips you want to throw my way, go ahead, any new work is appreciated.
